France defeated Norway in the United Cup quarterfinals, setting up a semifinal match against Poland.
Caroline Garcia and Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France won the deciding mixed doubles match against Ulrikke Eikeri and Casper Ruud of Norway.
Garcia, ranked 20th and the 2022 WTA Finals champion, had a challenging match against 544th-ranked Malene Helgo, which lasted for more than 2 1/2 hours.
Casper Ruud of Norway won his singles match against Adrian Mannarino of France, forcing the quarterfinal to a decider.
The other semifinal match, to be held on Saturday, will be between Australia and the winner of the match between Greece and Germany.
