France Tightens Night Curfew at Paris-Orly to Cut Aircraft Noise

The Transport Ministry imposed an earlier curfew for the loudest jets, narrowing exemptions to protect local communities.

Overview

  • A partial curfew will bar the noisiest aircraft from takeoff and landing after 22:00, reserving late-night operations for quieter models.
  • Exemptions to the curfew are now confined strictly to safety, security or public order flights.
  • Officials shifted enforcement to a 23:15 parking-stand departure cutoff instead of the previous 23:30 takeoff time.
  • Overall movements will remain capped at 250,000 per year, preserving airport capacity while addressing noise pollution.
  • A new national plan will expand grants for home insulation around major airports to reduce residents’ exposure to aircraft noise.
