France Thwarts Three Terror Plots Targeting Paris Olympics

French authorities arrested five suspects, including a minor, preventing attacks on Israeli institutions and other targets during the Games.

One of the plots targeted Israeli institutions or representatives in Paris, though the Israeli Olympic team was not specifically targeted.
An 18-year-old from Chechnya was arrested in May for planning an attack on bar-type establishments near the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium in Saint-Etienne.
Preventive measures included 936 house searches in 2024, deployment of warplanes and drones, and the arrest of 85 civilian drone operators, mostly tourists unaware of the regulations.
