  • France recorded 637,000 deaths in 2023, a reduction of 36,000 from the previous year and the lowest number since before the pandemic.
  • Covid-19 deaths fell from nearly 41,300 in 2022 to just over 14,000 in 2023, moving the virus to the ninth leading cause of death.
