France Seeks Extradition of Suspect in Philippine's Murder from Switzerland

The French government has formally requested the extradition of Taha O., suspected of murdering a Paris-Dauphine student, to ensure he faces trial in France.

The extradition request was submitted on October 9, 2024, by French authorities to their Swiss counterparts.
Taha O., a 22-year-old Moroccan national, is the main suspect in the murder of 19-year-old Philippine, whose body was found in the Bois de Boulogne.
He was arrested in Geneva on September 24, three days after Philippine's body was discovered.
Taha O. was previously convicted of rape and was under an obligation to leave France, which he violated before the murder.
The case has sparked calls for legal reforms in France, with officials urging changes to prevent similar incidents in the future.
