Overview

  • The electricity conversion coefficient in the DPE calculation will fall from 2.3 to 1.9 as of January 1, 2026.
  • Matignon projects about 850,000 of the 5.8 million homes rated F or G will be reclassified into higher energy categories without requiring physical upgrades.
  • Existing DPE assessments will remain valid and can be updated free of charge through the ADEME platform, with no mandatory new inspections.
  • Officials say the adjustment reflects France’s low-carbon nuclear grid and will help target renovation subsidies on homes heated by fossil fuels.
  • Consumer groups and energy experts warn the revision could weaken incentives for thermal retrofits and amount to a political concession to landlords.
