France Relaunches Social EV Leasing With 50,000 Cars Starting September 30

The scheme targets modest‑income commuters with monthly payments capped below €200.

Overview

  • Only the first 50,000 eligible applicants can secure a three‑year lease on a new electric car through participating dealerships.
  • Eligibility centers on social and usage criteria, including a fiscal reference income of €16,300 or less and commuting more than 15 km to work or driving at least 8,000 km annually for professional use.
  • Monthly rents must stay under €200 with at least one offer per lessor below €140, no upfront deposit beyond the first payment is required, and a minimum of 12,000 km per year is included.
  • The leasing aid cannot be combined with other EV incentives, maintenance is optional and can push the monthly cost above €200, and prior 2024 beneficiaries are excluded.
  • Franceinfo reports the 2025 edition is fully financed by energy suppliers for €370 million, and the ministry cites typical home‑charging costs near €3.5 per 100 km with August public‑charging averages at €0.38/kWh (normal) and €0.49/kWh (fast).
