France Opens Energy Cheque Claims Portal Ahead of November Payouts

Officials aim to catch eligible households missed by automatic screening after last year's identification issues.

Overview

  • A government portal opened on October 15 for eligible households not identified automatically to request the aid online or by mail through February 28, 2026.
  • Automatic distribution begins November 3 for 3.8 million households and is scheduled through November 21, with some departments mailing cheques until November 28.
  • Requests filed by early November will see cheques mailed starting November 19, according to the rollout plan.
  • Eligibility is based on a 2023 reference tax income per consumption unit of €11,000 or less matched to a home’s electricity Point de Livraison, with an average payment of €150 that can reach €277.
  • Bercy built the beneficiary list by cross-checking tax, grid operator and supplier data, with potentially missed households receiving October notices; this year’s delay follows a late budget and distribution is set to return to spring in 2026.
