France Introduces Major Policy Changes Starting January 1, 2025
New measures include updates to RSA requirements, retirement pensions, transportation costs, and health regulations.
- Recipients of the Revenu de Solidarité Active (RSA) must now register with France Travail and commit to 15–20 hours of weekly activities under a new engagement contract.
- Retirement pensions will increase by 2.2% in January, aligning with inflation, providing an average monthly boost of €18 for retirees.
- Tickets-restaurants will no longer be usable for non-consumable grocery items in supermarkets, and the daily spending limit will drop from €25 to €19.
- A unified €2.50 fare for public transportation in Île-de-France will take effect, raising ticket prices within Paris but lowering costs for suburban commuters.
- New health measures include mandatory vaccines for meningococcal infections ACWY and B in infants and the introduction of an updated child health record with expanded medical guidance.
