France Inter Suspends Thomas Legrand After Covert Video on Rachida Dati Surfaces

The public broadcaster acted after a July recording released by conservative magazine L’Incorrect showed the columnist discussing efforts against the culture minister with Socialist officials.

Overview

  • France Inter said it removed Legrand from the air à titre conservatoire and confirmed he will not be on air Sunday.
  • The video, filmed without participants’ knowledge in a Paris restaurant in July, captures Legrand saying, “Nous, on fait ce qu’il faut pour Dati, Patrick (Cohen) et moi.”
  • Patrick Cohen was at the table with PS figures Pierre Jouvet and Luc Broussy, and no suspension of Cohen was reported in these accounts.
  • Rachida Dati denounced the comments on X as contrary to journalistic ethics and called for measures against both commentators.
  • Legrand told AFP he rejects any partisan intent, saying he challenges what he calls Dati’s falsehoods rather than fighting her politically.
