France Identifies 7,285 Trafficking and Exploitation Victims in 2024

The new Miprof survey highlights pervasive sexual exploitation driven by induced addictions, with persistent gaps in medical and housing support.

Overview

  • Miprof reports a 20.9% increase from 2023, when 6,022 victims were identified.
  • Sexual exploitation accounted for 86% of accompanied cases, with 83% of those victims dependent on drugs or medications supplied by exploiters.
  • Three quarters of identified victims were controlled within networks, which organized transfers to France in 72% of those cases.
  • Among adults supported, 52% had been minors when the exploitation began, and 31% were abused by a family member, including 44% by a partner.
  • About 64% were directed to adapted medical care, yet associations say suitable long-term housing remains scarce despite temporary shelter for roughly two thirds.
