France Fuel Prices to Rise 4–6 Cents per Litre on Jan. 1 as CEE Charge Increases

A higher CEE levy on energy suppliers will push the embedded per‑litre charge toward €0.16.

  • Petrol and diesel pump prices will increase from 1 January 2026, according to France’s oil industry group as reported by national media.
  • The CEE contribution in fuel pricing is set to rise from roughly €0.11 to about €0.16 per litre, adding around €7.50 to a 50‑litre fill.
  • The CEE scheme obliges suppliers to fund building renovations and clean mobility via premiums that are partly passed on to customers, TF1 and Franceinfo report.
  • The program’s funding envelope has been reported increasing from €6 billion to €8 billion, with MaPrimeRénov’ effectively replaced by CEE‑funded bonuses.
  • CEE-related amounts will also weigh on electricity and gas, with gas bills projected to rise by about 3.5% on average in 2026.
