Overview
- On August 7, France Football published full lists of 30 male and 30 female nominees for the Ballon d’Or as well as contenders for the Kopa, Yashin and Johan Cruyff trophies.
- For the first time, the Ballon d’Or gala will present female-specific Kopa and Yashin trophies alongside the new Gerd Müller award for top scorer and a Sócrates prize for social commitment.
- An international jury of 100 journalists for the men’s awards and 50 for the women’s has begun ranking their top ten candidates, assigning points from 15 to 1.
- Leading candidates for the men’s prize include PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé, Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and PSG’s Vitinha, with Argentina’s Alexis Mac Allister, Lautaro Martínez and Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez also among the nominees.
- Voting will continue until winners are announced at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on September 22, 2025.
