France Celebrates 1000th Anniversary of Architectural Marvel Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey

Mont-Saint-Michel abbey in France is celebrating its 1,000th anniversary.

French President Emmanuel Macron is visiting the abbey and will see a new exhibit tracing its history.
The exhibit covers the complex process of building the abbey on a rocky island linked to the mainland only by a narrow causeway at high tide.
France has spent over 32 million euros ($34 million) over 15 years to restore the building and protect the monument's surrounding environment from mass tourism.
