Overview
- Spain confirmed a contagious bovine nodular dermatitis case on October 4 at a calf farm in Castello d’Empuries, according to France’s Agriculture Ministry.
- A prefectural order established a regulated surveillance zone in Pyrénées-Orientales, with cattle movements into, out of, and within the area prohibited for farming purposes while the situation is assessed.
- France reports 79 outbreaks across 47 farms since the first detection on June 29, largely in Savoie and Haute-Savoie with cases also recorded in Ain and Rhône.
- State-run vaccination began in July in the Savoie departments and expanded in late September to parts of Rhône, Loire, Ain, and Isère, and officials say stock is sufficient for another campaign.
