France Awards 10-Year Order for 7,000 Zetros Military Trucks to Daimler Truck and Arquus

The contract links German-built chassis to French military outfitting, including life-cycle support at Arquus sites.

Overview

  • A French armed forces spokesperson confirmed the award to supply 7,000 military trucks over the next decade.
  • Base vehicles will be built by Daimler Truck in Wörth am Rhein and Molsheim, with militarization performed by Arquus in Limoges, Garchizy and Saint-Nazaire.
  • All trucks use the three-axle Mercedes-Benz Zetros platform with a six-ton payload in variants for troop transport, cargo, crane operations or winch tasks.
  • The companies did not disclose the contract value, which insiders estimate at several billion euros.
  • The purchase is presented as a tangible Franco-German defense collaboration, contrasted with the troubled FCAS fighter project.
