Fox News Extends November Ratings Lead, Tops Cable Rivals by Wide Margins

Nielsen’s Big Data + Panel report for November shows Fox News leading across dayparts, with rivals posting multi-year lows.

Overview

  • Fox News averaged 2.38 million primetime viewers in November, outpacing MS NOW at 945,000 and CNN at 556,000, and captured 58% of cable-news primetime share.
  • Total-day viewership averaged 1.4 million for Fox News versus 600,000 for MS NOW and 430,000 for CNN, giving Fox 57% of the share as CNN logged its weakest November primetime since 1997 and MS NOW had its worst November since 2015.
  • All five top cable-news programs for the month were on Fox News: The Five (3.6 million), Jesse Watters Primetime (2.9 million), Special Report (2.7 million), The Ingraham Angle (2.53 million) and Gutfeld! (2.52 million).
  • Fox’s refreshed weekends continued to deliver: Saturday in America with Kayleigh McEnany averaged 1.2 million to lead Saturdays, Sunday Morning Futures drew 1.5 million, and The Sunday Briefing with Peter Doocy and Jacqui Heinrich averaged 1.2 million for second on Sundays.
  • Weekday primetime on Fox News averaged 2.439 million, narrowly edging ESPN’s Monday Night Football average of 2.435 million for the month, and Fox & Friends remained the top cable morning show for a 57th month at 1.3 million.
