Fox Cancels The Great North After Five Seasons

Fox confirmed the decision two weeks after the Season 5 finale following months of signs in its renewal strategy.

Overview

  • The network said the show will not return for a sixth season, with the Sept. 14 episode now serving as the series finale.
  • Fox TV Network president Michael Thorn issued a statement thanking creators Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin and Loren Bouchard, along with the cast and crew.
  • The series’ absence from Fox’s April multi-year animation renewals and a crowded slate that includes returning American Dad!, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, Krapopolis and Grimsburg pointed to the outcome.
  • Season 5 averaged about 532,000 total viewers with delayed playback and ranked as Fox’s least-watched scripted series in 2024–25, according to TVLine.
  • Director Aimee Steinberger first noted the cancellation on Bluesky, creators and staff shared farewells, and all episodes remain available to stream on Hulu.
