Fourth Teenager Charged Over Phoenix Park Stabbing

All four suspects are remanded in custody and scheduled to appear at Teesside Crown Court on June 23.

Overview

  • On April 30 a 17-year-old boy was discovered with multiple knife wounds at Hemlington’s Phoenix Park and was admitted to hospital in stable condition.
  • Cleveland Police arrested a 17-year-old on June 9 after questioning by the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team and charged him with attempted murder.
  • Prior to this arrest, three further teenagers aged 17, 18 and 19 faced attempted murder charges over the same incident.
  • The 18-year-old suspect is also accused of possessing an offensive weapon in connection with the stabbing.
  • One of the earlier defendants, 19-year-old Wayne Peter Boyd, appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court in May and did not enter a plea.
