Overview
- Youth groups led by the so-called Generation Z marched with transport unions, student federations, feminist collectives and other organizations through central Lima.
- Protesters set out from Plaza San Martín and reached Avenida Abancay in front of Congress, where they faced a police cordon, sang the national anthem and caused traffic restrictions.
- Participants demanded the elimination of the private pension system (AFP), the closure of Congress, effective measures against extortion and contract killings, and the reinstatement of prosecutor Delia Espinoza.
- The National Police said it would investigate the alleged arbitrary use of force during the mobilizations after reports of injuries in prior demonstrations, including the case of an elderly man denounced by Congresswoman Ruth Luque.
- Authorities deployed additional officers to guard institutions such as the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Superior Court, with some protesters also gathering at the Palace of Justice.
