• A female wolf, designated 2512-BC, from the group translocated from British Columbia in January 2025, has been confirmed dead in northwestern Colorado.
• This marks the fourth mortality among wolves released under the state’s phased reintroduction plan, pending a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service necropsy to determine the cause of death.
• The reintroduction program, approved by voters in 2020, aims to release 10–15 wolves annually for up to five years to establish a stable population west of the Continental Divide.
• Biologists are currently monitoring up to four potential wolf dens this spring to assess early reproductive success and pup emergence.
