Four U.S.-Made Stryker 8x8s Arrive in Argentina, Marking Start of Army Reequipping

The delivery opens a modernization program slated to grow the fleet to more than 200 vehicles.

Overview

  • The first four M1126 Strykers were unloaded on November 25 at the port of Zárate in Buenos Aires Province, with the Army posting images of the arrival.
  • An official presentation is scheduled for December 3 at Batallón de Arsenales 602 in Boulogne, led by outgoing defense minister Luis Petri with his successor, Lt. Gen. Carlos Presti.
  • The initial vehicles will be assigned to the X Brigada Mecanizada under the Rapid Deployment Force.
  • A team of noncommissioned officer drivers completed a two‑week practical course at Joint Base Lewis‑McChord in Washington with General Dynamics instructors before the handover.
  • Built by General Dynamics, the Strykers will be fitted in Argentina with an M2 12.7 mm machine gun and grenade launcher, with additional mission variants planned for future batches.
