Overview
- Operation Khanpi was launched around 5:30–6:00 am at Khanpi village in Churachandpur’s Henglep subdivision after credible inputs on the presence of UKNA cadres.
 - Defence officials say four UKNA members were neutralised after militants opened unprovoked fire on an Army column.
 - Cordon-and-search operations are ongoing in adjoining forested areas, with several militants believed to have fled and the toll subject to change.
 - Firearms and ammunition were recovered at the site, and formal identification of those killed was still pending in some accounts.
 - The Indian Army and Assam Rifles led the operation, with reports naming 36 Assam Rifles and 21 PARA, as part of wider recent actions against non-SoO groups linked to attacks on civilians.
