Overview
- Four youths—Andrew Ansah, Jordan Williams, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old—were arraigned on charges of murder, manslaughter, gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon following the fight at Williamsbridge Oval Playground.
- Police recovered a knife and a 9mm Taurus pistol at the scene and say cellphone footage depicts suspects pistol-whipping and repeatedly stabbing the unarmed victim.
- Detectives believe 14-year-old Angel Mendoza was misidentified in the melee and did not participate in the initial dispute among other teens.
- A 17-year-old who was also stabbed in the abdomen and shoulder remains in stable condition at Montefiore Medical Center.
- Authorities have appealed for witnesses to come forward to identify two suspects still at large and help reconstruct how the brawl escalated.
