Four-Star Guard Josh Tyson Commits to Cincinnati

Overview

• Josh Tyson publicly announced his verbal commitment to the University of Cincinnati during a ceremony at Lakota West High School and intends to join the Bearcats for the 2027-28 season under coach Jerrod Calhoun.
• Tyson is a 247Sports four-star prospect ranked among the top point guards nationally and listed at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds with a reported 6-foot-10 wingspan.
• He averaged 16.3 points, 3.8 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals last season while earning Greater Miami Conference Player of the Year honors and finishing as an Ohio Mr. Basketball finalist.
• Tyson narrowed his choice to Cincinnati and Xavier after receiving numerous Division I offers and transferring to prep power La Lumiere in July to face higher-level competition.
• The commitment joins Princeton guard Kameron Mercer, who reclassified to the 2027 class, and strengthens UC's local recruiting streak while remaining a verbal pledge pending a signed national letter of intent.
