Four Recover After Car Hits Parked Police Vehicle on East Lancs Road in St Helens

Investigators are seeking dashcam and CCTV after confirming all four injured have been discharged.

Overview

  • The crash happened around 5:30pm on Saturday, November 15, on the Manchester-bound East Lancashire Road near Windle Island/Rainford Road.
  • A Nissan Qashqai collided with a marked police car that was stopped behind a broken-down Range Rover.
  • Two people from the Nissan and two Merseyside Police officers were taken to hospital and have since been discharged and are recovering.
  • Merseyside Police have opened an investigation and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage via 101 or DM @MerPolCC quoting reference 25000937573.
  • Officers temporarily closed the road between Blindfoot Road and Windle Island for investigation work, and separate crashes in Aintree and Old Swan prompted hospital treatment and local closures.
