Four of Family Found Dead in Maharashtra’s Nanded in Suspected Mass Suicide

Police have called a forensic team and ordered autopsies to determine the cause and motive.

Overview

  • Ramesh Sonaji Lakhe, 51, and his wife, Radhabai, 45, were found hanging inside their home in Jawala Murar village around 8 am, according to Nanded rural police.
  • Their sons, Umesh, 25, and Bajrang, 23, were discovered on nearby railway tracks, with police saying it appears they jumped in front of a train.
  • Investigating officer Dattatray Manthale said the case is being treated as a suspected mass suicide and that conclusions will follow technical analysis and post-mortems.
  • An FSL team has been requested to collect evidence as officers record statements from relatives and neighbors and check for any note or final message.
  • Authorities are examining whether financial or domestic stress played a role, noting the family’s small-scale farming background but stressing no definitive trigger has been established.
