Four of Bihar’s ‘Sigma & Company’ Shot Dead in Rohini During DelhiBihar Police Encounter

Officials describe an intelligence-led interception of a Sitamarhi gang accused of planning violence before the Bihar polls.

Overview

  • Police say a joint Crime Branch–STF team tracked the group for days and intercepted their car around 2:20 am on Bahadur Shah Marg in Rohini, where the suspects allegedly opened fire first.
  • Those killed were identified as Ranjan Pathak, Bimlesh Mahto, Manish Pathak and Aman Thakur, whom officials link to the Sitamarhi-based ‘Sigma & Company’ network accused of murders and extortion.
  • Officers reported recovering five pistols and a white Maruti Baleno believed to have a fake number plate, with more than 40 rounds exchanged before the wounded were taken to Dr BSA Hospital and declared dead.
  • Bihar’s DGP said intelligence, including an audio clip, indicated plans to create unrest ahead of the November assembly elections, and police had earlier announced rewards for the fugitives.
  • Forensic examination, post-mortems and weapon tracing are underway as investigators probe the gang’s associates, movement between Bihar and Delhi, and any cross-border links.
