Four-Month A470/A483 Resurfacing in Builth Wells Set for Phased Closures From 3 November

The Welsh Government scheme sits within a £25 million road renewal programme, with a Christmas pause to reduce disruption.

Overview

  • Works are confirmed to run from 3 November 2025 to 1 March 2026, with full closures at times because the trunk road through town is too narrow for safe traffic flow during resurfacing.
  • All traffic management will be removed from 5 December to 5 January to ease festive travel, with no work during the Royal Welsh Winter Fair period as outlined by the mayor.
  • The project is organised in three phases, with the mayor detailing street-by-street sequencing and a mix of night, day and weekend working to manage local impact.
  • A public drop‑in will take place at Strand Hall on Wednesday 15 October for residents and businesses to view plans and raise questions.
  • Formal notifications and diversion details will be published on Traffic Wales, and the works form part of a programme targeting an extra 100 km of resurfacing after £81m spent since 2021, rising to £118m by the end of the Senedd term.
