Four Men Arrested in Connection with Hate Crime Murder in Phoenix

Suspects, believed to be gang members, allegedly planned to rob and kill Bernardo Pantaleon, sent photos of his mutilated body to his family.

Four men, identified as Christopher Ibarra, Jose Rodriguez, Leonardo Santiago, and Manuel Carrasco-Calderon, have been arrested in connection with the murder of 30-year-old Bernardo Pantaleon, whose mutilated body was found in a Phoenix park.
The suspects, believed to be linked to the North Side 15th Avenue street gang, allegedly planned to rob and kill Pantaleon. Santiago is said to have admitted to shooting Pantaleon after an 'unwanted advance'.
Pantaleon's family received photos of his mutilated body via Instagram, which led investigators to the suspects. The suspects allegedly made derogatory comments about Pantaleon's sexuality in their group chat.
Pantaleon, who worked as a caretaker for the elderly, was described as a 'rock' for his three siblings after they lost their parents at a young age. His family believes his murder was a targeted hate crime.
All four suspects are facing murder charges, with bonds ranging from $500,000 to $2 million.
