Four Margate Streets Evacuated After Suspicious Items Found in Flat as Bomb Squad Assesses

  • Kent Police were called to a property on Rosedale Road at about 4pm on Wednesday after concerns about items inside a flat.
  • A cordon was established as a Ministry of Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal team inspected the items with Kent Fire and Rescue also attending.
  • One person was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody.
  • Residents from Rosedale Road, Glencoe Road, Wharfedale Road and Malham Drive were evacuated, with welfare support provided at Hartsdown Leisure Centre by Thanet District Council.
  • Local officials say there is no confirmed threat to the public at this stage and inquiries are ongoing.
