Four Killed, Including 5-Year-Old, in Fiery Head-On Crash in Kankakee County

State police crash specialists are assisting an active investigation.

  • The collision occurred around 10:20–10:30 p.m. Thursday near 18000 West and 2000 South Road in Reddick, Illinois.
  • A 2021 Honda Accord and a southbound 2012 Chevrolet Equinox collided head-on, with two occupants in each vehicle and all four pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Deputies arriving on scene found one vehicle fully engulfed in flames, according to the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office.
  • Witnesses reported the Accord was driving recklessly before impact, crossing the center line at high speed and passing other vehicles, which remains under investigation.
