Four Killed in New Year’s Night Attacks Across Delhi as Police Solve Three Cases, Probe Realtor’s Death

Investigators are testing rivalry or personal enmity after finding cash and the victim’s phone at the Narela site.

Overview

  • Police reported four separate incidents between about 7:30 pm and midnight that left four dead and two injured across Lal Bagh, Mangolpuri, Sultanpuri and Narela.
  • In Narela, the partially burnt body of realtor Bhupender alias Binu, 38, was found inside a fenced farm structure with unburnt ₹500 notes and his phone recovered, and multiple teams are investigating on a complaint from his brother.
  • In Mangolpuri, e-rickshaw driver Vikas Mahto, 20, was fatally stabbed and his friend injured; four juveniles were apprehended and two men arrested in a case tied by police to a rivalry.
  • In Sultanpuri, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death; police arrested the alleged main attacker, Vikram, a repeat offender, and detained an associate, with officers saying the dispute stemmed from the boy objecting to the man’s relationship with his mother.
  • In Lal Bagh, tailor Bihari Lal, 50, was killed after a confrontation with local teens; two 14-year-olds were apprehended and police are probing the role of another boy.
