Four Killed, Five Hospitalised in Bolton Crash as Police Launch Appeal

Investigators are appealing for dashcam footage to establish how a Seat Leon and a Citroen collided.

Overview

  • At about 12:45am on January 11, a red Seat Leon and a Citroen C4 Picasso collided on Wigan Road in Deane, killing the Seat’s driver and two passengers and the Citroen’s driver, and injuring five passengers who were taken to hospital, Greater Manchester Police said.
  • GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit has cordoned the area and is seeking witnesses and dashcam or CCTV footage, including sightings of the Seat before the crash.
  • Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service deployed three engines and a technical response unit, carried out extrications, and the road was closed between Deane Church Lane and Bankfield Street.
  • In separate incidents since January 9, an M62 westbound crash between junctions 35 and 34 injured three and later reopened after police appeals for footage, and Essex Police made arrests after A130 collisions that left paramedics and off‑duty officers hospitalized.
  • Emergency crews also dealt with a four‑vehicle M6 crash with a car fire near Knutsford and a six‑vehicle M60 collision near Cheadle, both since cleared, while a pedestrian died on the A449 in Wolverhampton where a 30‑year‑old was arrested then released under investigation.
