Overview

• Gunfire erupted just before 1 a.m. Sunday at Willie's Bar and Grill on St. Helena Island, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
• Deputies found a large crowd; four people were pronounced dead at the scene and at least 20 were injured, with four in critical condition.
• Several victims were transported by EMS, and additional injured people arrived at area hospitals on their own.
• Authorities said hundreds were at the gathering and many fled to nearby businesses and properties to shelter from the gunfire.
