Four Israeli Soldiers Killed in Gaza Strip Combat
The Israel Defense Forces mourns the loss of an officer and three reservists in recent fighting, leaving behind grieving families and a nation in shock.
- Major (res.) Yizhar Hofman, an officer in the Israel Defense Forces' elite Shaldag Unit, was killed on Wednesday in combat in the northern Gaza Strip.
- Three IDF reservists were killed in fighting in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday. They were named as Major (Res.) Netzer Simchi, 30, a combat officer in the 87th Battalion; Sergeant Major (Res.) Yuval Nir, 43, a combat soldier in the 6646th Patrol Battalion; and Captain (Res.) Gavriel Shani, 28, a team commander in the 6646th Patrol Battalion.
- Netzer Simchi was a Kadoorie Agricultural High School graduate and had recently married his girlfriend, Coral.
- Yuval Nir leaves behind a wife and five kids, and was described as one of the finest who went out to fight the war of existence in Gaza.
- Gavriel Shani was married and a father of two toddlers, and was described as a valued officer, dedicated to his family, his people, and his country.
