Four Die in Separate Early-Morning Crashes Across Navi Mumbai, Khopoli and Panvel
Investigators have opened cases across Navi Mumbai, with one driver held as CCTV checks continue.
Overview
- Sanpada police reported a 4:00 a.m. Thursday hit-and-run on the Mumbai-bound lane of Sanpada Bridge in which an unidentified man, about 30–40, was fatally struck near the divider.
- A case in the Sanpada incident was filed under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 304(a), 279, 337 and 338 along with relevant Motor Vehicles Act provisions, and officers are scanning nearby cameras to trace the vehicle.
- Around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, a truck plunged off a bridge near the Khopoli exit on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, killing the driver as investigators cited high speed and a suspected brake issue.
- On Friday at about 7:45 a.m., motorcyclist Ganesh Chandrakant Khetal, 31, died after losing control at high speed and hitting a divider on the Karanjade bridge on the Nhava Sheva–Panvel route.
- At roughly 9:45 a.m. near Tembhode village, 21-year-old Nikhil Prakash Gotale was fatally hit head-on by a dumper; Khandeshwar police arrested driver Gautam Sambhaji Shinde and registered an FIR under BNS Sections 106(1) and 281 and Motor Vehicles Act Section 184.
