Four Dead, Seven Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Charter Bus in Washington

A high-speed passing attempt on a two-lane highway led to a fatal collision involving a car, a charter bus, and another vehicle in Douglas County.

  • The crash occurred Sunday afternoon on State Route 28 near Wenatchee, Washington, when a car attempted to pass another vehicle at high speed and collided head-on with a charter bus.
  • Four people were killed, including the 17-year-old driver and passenger of the car, the 66-year-old charter bus driver, and a bus passenger who died later at the hospital.
  • Seven bus passengers, ranging in age from 24 to 71, sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
  • The car also struck the vehicle it was attempting to pass, which carried a driver and two children, though no one in that vehicle was injured.
  • The crash is under investigation by Washington State Patrol’s Major Accident Investigation Team, with the bus company cooperating to determine further details.
