Investigators point to suspected electrical faults with cause inquiries underway.

  • The blaze began around 9 a.m. in a ground-floor shop selling utensils and electrical items, spread to upper floors where the family lived, and a narrow exit impeded escape; one relative was injured.
  • In Mumbai, a Level II fire broke out overnight at the Thomas Cook office in Chembur, was contained by about 4:33 a.m., and damaged wiring, UPS systems, interiors and records, with no casualties reported.
  • A Level I fire at a Honda showroom in Andheri East was confined to the premises and fully extinguished by 6:12 a.m., according to the Mumbai Fire Brigade.
  • Separately, a cloth shop fire on Chakala Street in South Mumbai was confined to stock with no injuries, and 30–40 passengers were safely evacuated from a Shivshahi MSRTC bus near Matunga after smoke, which the operator linked to an AC fuse short circuit.
