Four Dead in Dumper-Truck Crashes in Mumbai and Gwalior as Police Pursue Cases

Criminal probes under the BNS and motor-vehicle law are underway.

  • A 55-year-old pillion rider, Parvati Ramesh Gajra, was killed on the Ghatkopar–Mankhurd Link Road; Deonar police detained driver Zoting Ramling Phulwad, 36, and registered a case for causing death due to negligence.
  • In Andheri East, 20-year-old Vaibhav Talekar died after crashing into a dumper allegedly parked dangerously on the Western Express Highway, and an FIR was filed against driver Sabhajit Yadav.
  • In Gwalior, 90-year-old Girraj Sharma was crushed when a gravel-laden truck overturned outside his home, with police citing wet, unstable soil from recent pipeline work; the truck was seized and the driver is being traced.
  • Investigators across the cases cite risky overtaking, high speed and unsafe heavy-vehicle placement, with multiple drivers detained in Mumbai and inquiries continuing to establish culpability.
