  • Hansa Rostock, 1. FC Bocholt, SV Meppen, and Würzburger Kickers have joined the Nordost-initiated push to reform the Regionalliga promotion system.
  • The initiative seeks to replace the current five-division structure with a four-division format, ensuring direct promotion for all champions.
  • Currently, only West and Südwest champions are promoted automatically, while Nord, Nordost, and Bayern champions face a rotational playoff system.
  • Further discussions with the Westdeutscher, Südwest, and Bayerischer Fußball-Verband are scheduled for late May to build broader consensus.
  • A formal proposal must be finalized by September 7 for consideration at the DFB-Bundestag session on November 7.
