Four Alpacas and a Sheep Shot Dead in Cambridgeshire Village

Police are investigating the deliberate killings of five animals and appealing for public assistance in East Hatley.

The shootings occurred between 6pm on Saturday, March 22, and 8:30am on Sunday, March 23, in East Hatley, Cambridgeshire.
Four alpacas and one sheep were killed, while a fifth alpaca survived a gunshot wound to the face.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary has launched an investigation, conducting house-to-house inquiries and appealing for witnesses or relevant footage.
Sgt Tom Nuttall of the Rural Crime Action Team described the incident as highly distressing, emphasizing the defenselessness of the animals involved.
Alpacas, increasingly kept as pets in the UK, hold cultural and emotional significance, with an estimated population of 35,000 across the country.
