- Authorities traced the men around 2:30 p.m. on January 13 near the Whisky Nala–Pang Serchu Road.
- Police identified them as Shivam Chaudhary, Shudhanshu Fauzdar, Jaiveer Chaudhary and Yash Mittal, all in their mid-20s.
- Investigators say they mistakenly followed the Leh–Manali road, which was closed due to snowfall, and their vehicle had a minor roadside accident.
- The group spent two nights inside their vehicle using the heater until the fuel ran out, and they were later found sheltering in a hut about 20 km from the car.
