Fortinet Confirms Data Breach Exposing 440GB of Customer Data

The cybersecurity giant refused to pay ransom after hacker posted stolen data online.

Fortinet has confirmed a data breach involving 440GB of customer data taken from its Microsoft Sharepoint server.
The hacker, known as 'Fortibitch,' posted credentials to an S3 bucket with the stolen data on a hacking forum.
Fortinet stated the breach affected a limited number of files related to less than 0.3% of its customers.
The company has communicated with affected customers and reported the incident to law enforcement and select cybersecurity agencies.
Despite the breach, Fortinet's operations, products, and services remain unaffected, and no malicious activity against customers has been detected.
