Overview
- On Aug. 12, the Army’s Office of Special Trial Counsel preferred charges against Sgt. Quornelius Radford under the UCMJ, including six counts of attempted murder, multiple aggravated assault charges and a domestic violence specification.
- Radford made his first appearance in military court, was ordered to remain in pretrial confinement and is expected to be transferred to the Naval Consolidated Brig Charleston.
- A judge advocate will hold a preliminary hearing to determine probable cause before prosecutors decide whether to refer the case for a general court-martial.
- All five soldiers wounded in the Aug. 6 shooting at Fort Stewart survived and have either been released from hospitals or remain in stable condition, with one victim identified as the suspect’s intimate partner.
- Investigators from the Army Criminal Investigation Division and OSTC are examining the motive, how Radford obtained a personal handgun on the installation and any lapses in personnel screening.
