Overview

  • On Aug. 15, DVIDS published official photographs of Fort Jackson’s Aug. 5 National Night Out at Patriot Park under a public-domain license, crediting Robert Timmons.
  • Col. C. J. Phillips, chief of staff for Army Training Center and Fort Jackson, was dunked in a charity dunk tank by a child participant.
  • Sgt. 1st Class David Villareal, a Fort Jackson military policeman, encouraged children as they took turns dunking senior leaders.
  • A Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputy demonstrated a field sobriety test using impairment goggles to promote public safety.
  • The event, part of a national community–law enforcement outreach campaign, also featured an inflatable obstacle course by the Fort Jackson Fire Department.
