Forrest Gump's Original Script Included Curious George, Says Director

Curious George was initially scripted to be a talking monkey companion to Forrest in the early drafts of Forrest Gump.
Director Robert Zemeckis decided to cut the character, despite its presence in the script, due to creative choices rather than rights issues.
The film still features Curious George as Forrest's favorite book, which he reads to his son, and a toy version appears in several scenes.
Zemeckis was selected to direct the film partly due to his experience with blending animation and live-action in 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'.
Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, and Zemeckis have reunited for a new project, 'Here', marking another collaboration after their success with Forrest Gump.
