Former Youth Counselors Sentenced to Probation in Connection with Teen's Death

- The Kalamazoo County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Fredericks' death a homicide.
- The counselors pleaded no contest in March to involuntary manslaughter, and two counts of second-degree child abuse were dropped.
- A third defendant, Heather Newton McLogan, the former director of nursing at Lakeside, was sentenced to 18 months probation in September 2021.
