Former Yoozoo Games Executive Sentenced to Death for Poisoning Company Founder

The death sentence was handed down due to a dispute over business management, marking a high-profile case in the Chinese gaming industry.

Former Yoozoo Games executive, Xu Yao, was sentenced to death for poisoning the company's founder, Lin Qi, in December 2020.
The poisoning stemmed from a dispute over the management of the business, according to the Shanghai First Intermediate People’s Court.
Lin Qi died approximately 10 days after being poisoned, with Xu being detained by police shortly after.
Four other individuals were sickened but did not die after Xu poisoned beverages in the office due to disputes with two of them.
Yoozoo owns the film rights to 'The Three-Body Problem,' a best-selling Chinese science fiction trilogy, and had granted Netflix the right to produce an adaptation in September 2020.
