Former Wrestler Charged with Homicide in Death of Gymnast Kara Welsh

Chad Richards faces first-degree intentional homicide charges after allegedly shooting his girlfriend multiple times during an altercation.

Richards claims he shot Welsh in self-defense after she grabbed his gun during an argument.
Police discovered 11 spent casings and eight gunshot wounds on Welsh's body.
Richards is being held on a $1 million bond and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 28.
Welsh was a decorated gymnast at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, majoring in management.
